weder10000sep24Tommy Weder Jr. of Woodward, Okla., captured his biggest career win Saturday night in the annual running of the Fall Jamboree, a USMTS crown jewel event. Taking the lead on the 16th lap, Weder built up more than a straightaway lead before a caution would fly with 13 laps to go in the 42-lap race. He was able to hold off fellow MRE pilot Ricky Thornton Jr. to cash in on a $10,000 payday. “This is kind of like the World 100 for late models as far as modified guys are concerned," Weder said. "This is as top-notch as it gets and it’s going to be pretty cool to get my name on a pretty short list of people.”

He took control of the race after a competition caution on the 30th lap, and held off Scott Bloomquist the final ten laps to secure the win. “You see a guy like that under you, you better not mess up,” said Gustin in victory lane. Buck Monson Photo
